Updating your profile is easy.  Just follow the instructions  below:

Click to the ‘Community’ menu at the top of the page and then scroll down to ‘My Profile’. From here, click on the ‘About‘ tab (see below).

Once here, you can edit your personal information such as:

  • First Name
  • Surname
  • About (write about yourself – what is it that you love about the scottish islands)?
  • How many scottish islands have you visited?
  • Favourite scottish island or islands?
  • Which country are you from
  • Website (if you have one)

You can also decide if you want to make the information public, available to site members only, friends only or only to yourself (click on the ‘public’ button to change this setting).

Next, click on the ‘Preferences‘ Tab. Look at the settings on here and change any if required.

The third tab is the ‘Notifications‘ tab. This is to identify whether you would orefer to see notifications (someone has liked your photo for example) on the site or via e-mail. If you are only following a couple of groups, you would prbably be fine to recive notifications by e-mail. Otherwise, I would suggest that you click on the ‘Disable all e-mail notifications’ link in the ‘Shortcuts’ area. This will stop you from receiving lots of notification e-mails.

Lastly, the ‘Account‘ tab is where you can change the following information:

  • Password
  • Username
  • E-mail address

In order to do this, you will need to enter your current password. Once you have done this, you can change the above details on your account.

It is also possible to download a complete copy of all the data you have shared in this Community. This includes posts, messages, photos, videos, comments, etc. The data will be compiled automatically and delivered to you in a machine-readable JSON format. (Please bear in mind that depending on the amount of data that needs to be compiled, preparing your download might take a while). To do this, click on the ‘Export my Community Data’.
